General Guidelines and Layouts

The manuscript is an original manuscript (never published elsewhere) sourced from research results, literature studies and other scientific reviews. This journal will be published in April and October.

Rangkiang Mathematics Journal publishes theoretical studies or empirical research related to specific teaching and learning in the fields of Mathematics and Mathematics Education.

Articles must be original, in the sense that they have never been published in other journals or are being considered for publication in other journals and are free from plagiarism.

The script use English. A4 size paper, typed 1.5 spaces, above of Word 2003. The typeface is Palatino Linotype, Font size 12, top margin 3 cm, bottom 3 cm and right 2.5 cm, and left 3 cm. The beginning of the sentence of each paragraph follows the manuscript limit, so it does not start jutting out to the right. Articles are written with the following systematic and provisions.

  1. Title: written in concise, maximum 12 words using Palatino Linotype font size 16, and must reflect the substance of mathematics and mathematics education
  2. Author's name: written without academic degree, located below the title; articles from group research, literature review, and other scientific studies. All members must be listed in order based on the author's contribution to the study with the Palatino Linotype font size 10.
  3. Author's Institution and Address: written the name of the institution where the author originates from the study program, university, address and e-mail located under the author's name; if the author is more than one, write down all e-mail addresses and put an asterisk (*) as an email correspondence with Palatino Linotype font size 10.
  4. Abstract: Maximum abstract length is 250 words, in one paragraph, and does not exceed 1 page. The writing uses the font Palatino Linotype font size 10, not italic and not thick. The abstract do not use or do not contain special characters, symbols or mathematical formulas. The abstract must be clear, descriptive and provide a full but brief description of the problem under study. The abstract must contain the background of the problem, objectives, methods, a brief summary of the results of the study, a brief conclusion, and the urgency of the study.
  5. Keywords: filled in words or terms that reflect the essence of the concept in the scope of the problem consisting of several words/ terms and referred to in the title / abstract. The number of keywords 4-6 words/collection of words. Keywords are written in the space provided in the template, don't use abbreviations.
  6. The body of the Article: (i) the article consist of an introduction that contains the background of the problem and a framework or analysis framework based on theoretical studies originating from updated journals, subtitles containing research methods, results and discussion, and conclusions. (ii) The research article consists of an introduction that contains the background of the problem (maximum 30%), method (15%), results and discussion (55%), and conclusions (5%). The discussion must refer to primary and current references. (iii) Mathematical articles which are literature studies and solve the problem must also meet the proportion of qualified theoretical studies and literature from popular journals.

Introduction Issues or topics raised are discussed based on the results of previous research that are relevant and current with existing theories. After the theories are explained further the writer raises a gap at the end of the description. Based on the gap, a novelty will appear from the article written. Theories from this background must be sourced from a minimum of 8 old articles to the most recent. For example the title of the article "Beliefs of junior high school teachers on learning process on mathematical problem solving". The author first describes studies that examine beliefs ranging from understanding to teacher beliefs in learning mathematics (8 articles). Because there are no articles that make up mathematical beliefs in learning about problem solving, this article discusses teacher beliefs in learning about mathematical problem solving.

Method The research method contains steps - steps in obtaining the results of researchers ranging from research instruments, instrument validation, data collection, data analysis. Not justified in writing the meaning of something.

Results and discussion in this section the authors describe the data obtained from the results of the study. Describe the data that has been obtained clearly and concisely, can be in the form of tables, pictures or diagrams. Furthermore the discussion must not be separate from the results. The discussion is a review of the results associated with theoretical studies both relevant to the results of the study and those that contradict the results of the study.

Conclusions Contains the essence of the research findings and submit recommendations for further research.

  1. Acknowledgments: addressed to various parties who assisted in writing, for example, research sponsors and resource persons. Acknowledgments are optional, can be written or not.
  2. Bibliography: use a minimum of 15 references from primary sources (relevant national and / or international journals) which are up to date (in the latest five years). Include the designated source in the body of the article. Instead, the name referred to in the torso must be in the bibliography. Quotes and references must really follow the style of APA (American Psychological Association). The APA style can be seen at http://www.apastyle.org/pubmanual.html. Quotation and reference writing suggests using the Mendeley application (https://www.mendeley.com/) or others reference aplications. Not justified referring from websites, blogs and the like.

How to refer to the author in the body of the article must mention the author's last name, year. Example: (Harisman, 2019), or Harisman (2012). References through the second author are avoided whenever possible. For example: Harisman (Noto, 2019). Writing a bibliography uses the type Palatino Linotype 12 with a space of 1, written in alphabetical order and the second line protrudes 1 cm from the first line, with the rules of writing sources such as books and scientific periodicals according to the example below.
